Tri-State Occupational Medicine, Inc. was founded in 1993. The corporation began with two full-time physicians providing Independent Medical Evaluations in the Tri-State area of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Currently, we employ 11 full-time and 11 part-time physicians.
Dr. Bruce Guberman, owner of Tri-State Occupational Medicine, has 30+ years of experience performing Independent Medical Evaluations for Social Security Disability Determination, Workers’ Compensation, employers, claimants, insurance companies, and multiple government agencies.
Today physicians with varied training and experience are employed full time or part time to perform Consultative Exams (CEs) and Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) in multiple locations throughout eight states. Scheduling, billing, personnel and administrative functions are carried out at the TSOM corporate office located in Huntington, WV. where we have a full time staff of support personnel as well as a toll free number and computerized answering system.
Our main goal as a multi-state provider of Independent Medical Evaluations including Social Security Disability Determination and Workers’ Compensation is to provide the best quality Medical Exams in a compassionate setting with special regard to the unique needs of our claimants and understanding the urgency in which the exam is expected. We strive to continually improve our procedures so that efficiency is always achieved.
Dr. Guberman is the President and Owner of TSOM. Susan Gladys is our Operations Manager, Regina Zornes is the Office Manager and Wes Hanshaw is the Supervisor of Clinic Assistants.
Each physician is provided training and an assistant who will coordinate the clinic flow and also perform ancillary studies. Our staff rents or sublets the office locations and maintains them as necessary. TSOM does the scheduling, provides and coordinates the dictation and transcription process, collates the reports and ancillary procedures, and forwards the reports to the referring agencies. For the physician, this provides a simplified, efficient system to examine patients and prepare and process reports. Their is no "on-call". Weekend and evening work is not expected. Collections are essentially 100% and doctors are paid per day worked regardless of actual number of patients seen and regardless of when or if payment is received. Legal risk including malpractice is extremely low. For the vast majority of work testifying and depositions are rare to non-existent. Our goal for our physicians is to provide a low risk, low stress practice with flexible hours and providing a fair, comfortable income.
